Nyírjes Botanical Garden and Wildlife Park in Balassagyarmat is a family-friendly nature destination with educational trails, a wildlife park, a petting zoo and a small forest playground for children. Besides native wildlife, visitors can also meet alpacas, emus and kangaroos. The botanical garden is dog-friendly, and the park is open seasonally. It opens in early April and closes at the end of October.
