Ground Squirrels in Tihany

European ground squirrels can be seen roaming freely along the shores of Tihany's Inner Lake, on the nearby meadows and grassy areas next to the football field. The Lavender House Visitor Centre and the nearby Kotyogós Café are great starting points for spotting them. The squirrels are active only from spring until early autumn, spending the colder months in hibernation. They are easiest to observe on warm, sunny days. For the best experience, sit quietly on the grass and wait patiently for these curious little animals to come closer. Please do not feed the ground squirrels, and always photograph them from a respectful distance without disturbing them.
